Facebook to stream MLB games

The social-media giant continues its foray into the video market with live baseball.

Facebook has started a little spring training of its own.

The social-networking giant is offering users live streaming of Major League Baseball games. The service was introduced this week, featuring a game of the day from baseball's spring training season.

The games are largely a promotion to lure subscribers to MLB.TV's $120 season-long subscription package. But the move also looks like a warm-up to Facebook's ongoing push in to the nascent streaming-video market.

The Incredible Sculptures Made From Sticky Tape

The Incredible Sculptures Made From Sticky Tape
These works of art are sure to stick in your head - as they've been sculpted entirely out of adhesive tape.
The amazing see-through models of a peacock, a galleon and hot air balloon are entries in a bizarre art competition.
They are made by sticking bits of tape together in a 'free-form' style or by wrapping them around objects which are then removed from the piece.
There are also models of a gun-toting arm emerging from a TV screen and a sweets vending machine.
The entries are typically made from between 30 and 50 rolls of tape and take days to complete.
Other materials, such as wire, cardboard and paint, can make up to ten per cent of the model if used to support or enhance it.
The models had to be made using Scotch packaging tape and the winning entry will receive £3,100 when judging takes place next month.
Keri Warren, from Scotch, said: 'We are excited by the amount of attention this competition has attracted.
'All entries are unique in their own way and I find the level of detail and creativity outstanding.
'Many of the entrants photograph their sculptures in settings that help to bring their pieces to life, which helps us all to relate them.
"The competition allows the entrants to develop and showcase their artistic talents with a medium that is outside the typical realm of artistry.'

The Million Pound Dog

The Million Pound Dog
They say money can't buy love – but £1million will get you man's most expensive best friend.

A red Tibetan mastiff has become the priciest dog in the world after being sold for 10 million Chinese yuan, or £945,000.

Big Splash, or Hong Dong in Chinese, was bought by a coal baron from the north of China.

And it's lucky his new master is a multi-millionaire, because the hefty price tag doesn't factor in Big Splash's diet – enough chicken and beef to fill a growing 180lb dog, spiced up with Chinese delicacies such as sea cucumber and abalone.

The Shaggy Dog Likes to Scooter Round Town

The Shaggy Dog Likes to Scooter Round Town

As shaggy dog stories go, the one about Norman the very bright Briard who is a wizz riding his scooter ranks high on the list.

The clever canine, who lives with the Cobb family in Canton, Georgia, competes in many obedience competitions and received his Companion Dog Title at just 15 months of age after four first place finishes.
But it's his razor scooter that has remained the pooch's passion since he was a mere pup when his owner, Karen Cobb, took him out for his first spin.

'He began playing with the kid's scooter in the backyard and we thought it would be fun to give him a ride on it,' says Karen. 'Then we decided to teach him to push it, and now he loves riding his scooter.'

Meet the penguin with a heart-shaped breast

Meet the penguin with a heart-shaped breast
While most of us might wear our hearts on our sleeve, this little chap shows it off in just the right place.

He is an Emperor penguin chick whose change of plumage into adulthood was brrrrrilliantly blessed by Mother Nature.

The white heart-shaped patch on his chest is a natural formation due to the moulting of his feathers.

The baby penguin is blissfully aware that not only is he the focus of a heart-warming image, but that he is also literally one in a million too.

Award-winning photographer and wildlife film-maker Sue Flood said that in the 20 years she has been taking pictures in the Arctic and Antarctic, and on more than 30 trips to the frozen plains, she had never picked up such a penguin phenomenon.

The Hair was approximately six years old when it was cut down in the prime of its lush life. Bieber (pictured with Jay DeMarcus) made the decision to cut the cords for a video he was making with Rascal Flatts. No one has been arrested for the crime. Yet. Glee Casting Call For Sarah Palin Type Character - Tea Party and Glee?

The Fox TV show Glee has placed a casting call for a "Sarah Palin type character" for a role on the hit show.
Are they ready to now mock the Tea Party?
The character is named Tammy Jean, and described as a "middle-aged recent Tea Party candidate and home schooler — a Sarah Palin type."
However, show creator Ryan Murphy says he is not bringing Tammy Jean / Sarah Palin on the show to mock and make fun of, but to be inclusive.
“We’ve taken a couple jabs at the right wing this year,” Murphy told TV Guide last June.
“So what I want to do with this character is have someone who Christian kids and parents can recognize and say, ‘Oh, look — I’m represented there, too!’ If we’re trying to form a world of inclusiveness, we’ve got to include that point of view as well.”
“Pat me on the back,” Ryan Murphy says, “after two seasons, we’re not going to be bigots anymore!”
