Benicio Del Toro Star Trek
Benicio Del Toro Star Trek, Benicio Del Toro Offered Villain Role In "Star Trek" Sequel - Is It Khan? Variety reports that actor Benicio del Toro is being offered the role of villain in the upcoming sequel to director J.J. Abram's 2009 blockbuster franchise-reboot movie Star Trek. So far, Abrams and crew have kept a tight lid on details about the new Paramount film, and the identity of the main villain is a closely guarded secret. But might that give us a hint into just who might be showing up? Perhaps so, and at the top of my best-guess list is a familiar name... There have already been some possible hints. Screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have explained that they were looking at old episodes of the original series for some inspiration, and in particular one name did come up. The same name, in fact, that J.J.
Abrams mentioned at one point as well. Khan. Yes, Khan, as in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Ricardo Montalban made the character famous, and he is considered one of the best (if not the best) Star Trek villains ever created. And personally, I can imagine Del Toro delivering a grand and worthy performance as Khan. It makes sense that, while the franchise reboot created a new timeline and allows brand new adventures to take place, it's also true that many of the same threats from the original timeline still exist. So Khan is still out there somewhere, asleep and waiting to be awoken by whomever is unfortunate enough to find his ship. It would be interesting to see the Enterprise stumble across him again, but this time with possibly very different results. Oscar-winner to be 'Star Trek' villain? zachary quinto comes out,
I could be wrong, and this is of course purely speculation and a lot of finger-crossing on my part. But I think it's possible, it would be pretty amazing, and when I think about del Toro and wonder what the big secret is about the villain's identity, Khan seems like a pretty plausible option. However, perhaps the film will introduce a brand new villain. Or maybe we'll see a totally different villain from the original series, such as the insane Captain Garth. Then again, since this is a brand new timeline, it's possible that this Enterprise might now encounter villains from other Star Trek shows. Ever wonder what would've happened in Kirk and his crew had been the ones to encounter Q? Maybe we'll find out! But for now, the name at the top of my best-guess list is Khan.
