Ben Gibbard Zooey Deschanel, Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard Splits From Zooey Deschanel. Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard has reportedly parted ways with his wife, singer and actress Zooey Deschanel (The New Girl, 100 Days of Summer).
Gibbard and Deschanel (who is one half of the indie pop duo She & Him), were introduced by their shared music manager and tied the knot in 2009.
According to a new report from Us Weekly the split was "mutual and amicable" and their source also confirmed that there was "no third party involved."
While speaking with New York Magazine Gibbard recalls first meeting Deschanel saying: "I was just awestruck that she was even talking to me."
The news comes at a busy time for Gibbard, whose band just released a new video for their current single "Stay Young, Go Dancing."
