The Black Keys drop new single

The Black Keys drop new single, The Black Keys premiere new single 'Lonely Boy,' release hypnotic dancing video: See it here! The Black Keys, Ohio’s greatest rock export since Greg Dulli, have a new album coming out in December. It’s called El Camino (or “The Road,” for those of you who don’t habla Espanol) features production by Danger Mouse, just like its Grammy-winning predecessor Brothers.

The lead-up to the release of El Camino has proven that Black Keys members Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney completely understand the Internet.

They created a trailer for the album that spoofed local car dealership ads and acted as a nod to Jack Rebney and starred Mr. Show veteran Bob Odenkirk. They set up a really cool backdoor website. And for the premiere of the new single “Lonely Boy,” which just hit the blogosphere today, they attached a low-fi video of a guy dancing very enthusiastically to the Keys’ fuzzy stomp.

Like the rest of the Black Keys oeuvre, the new single is fantastically scuzzy but also casually melodic and deceptively complex. Give it a spin below, and prepare to be hypnotized by some truly remarkable dance moves.

You’ll notice that at the website, there’s a phone number listed. When called, you get an outgoing voicemail message describing the van the Keys are supposedly trying to sell. They’re deeply honest in their sales pitch, as they admit that the ’94 El Camino has “some surface noise, some ring wear, some rust” but is otherwise in decent condition. the black keys lonely boy, the black keys, el camino december 6, 2011, The Black Keys - Lonely Boy (First Listen)

The Keys, on the other hand, are in far superior shape. On the back of Brothers and its breakout singles “Tighten Up” and “Howlin’ For You,” they collected a gold record and a pair of Grammys (including Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group for “Tighten Up”). The band has been telling people El Camino has been inspired in part by the Clash and the Cramps, which means it could make for a very loud holiday season.
