Michael Winner marry
Michael Winner marry. Film director Michael Winner has spoken of his joy at setting a date for his wedding - after seven decades as a bachelor.
Michael, who directed stars such as Marlon Brando and Charles Bronson, and long-term girlfriend Geraldine Lynton-Edwards will tie the knot at Chelsea Register Office on September 19. Their witnesses will be the actor Michael Caine and his wife Shakira, who will host a lunch party for the happy couple at their home the previous day.
Michael, 75, who writes a restaurant column for The Sunday Times, has been engaged to Geraldine for four years.
Asked why he had decided to marry relatively late in life, he said: "It seemed to me to be a lovely thing to do.
"I turn 76 in October and I have never been anywhere near marriage before. It took a long time for a bit of common sense to enter my befuddled brain.
"Geraldine is great fun and she has been with me through difficult times, and now she's making a respectable man of me."
About 16 friends, including composer Lord Lloyd-Webber, the photographer Terry O'Neill and singer Chris Rea, will join the couple at the Caines' home for Sunday lunch. The newlyweds will honeymoon in Portofino, Italy.
