Top 70s Bands. Top ’70s bands form Superband. It will be an exciting night tonight at the Hard Rock Café with the performance of the original members of VST & Company, Wadab, Cinderella, Labuyo, and Abrakadabra who’ve regrouped as the ’70s Superband. Comprising the group are Nonoy Tan and Rey Magtoto (of Wadab), Monet Gaskell (VST & Company), Snafu Rigor (Cinderella), Mon Espia (Labuyo), Jun and Nitoy Malillin (Abrakadabra). It is recalled that the ’70s was the glorious decade for the local music industry, when Original Pilipino Music (OPM) lorded it over in the music charts.

Nonoy is a singer/songwriter/producer, and was the lead vocalist of Wadab. He was the grand prize winner in the 5th Metro Pop Music Festival with his song “Kahit Lalala, Puwede Na.” He discovered Gino Padilla, J Brothers, Aegis, Mystica and Hale. Rey is an arranger/producer/musical director/film scorer and former vocalist and bassist of Wadab. Monet was the vocalist of VST & Company in its heydays.

Snafu is best remembered for winning the grand prize in Korea’s International Singing Competition for the song “Bulag, Pipi at Bingi,” interpreted by Freddie Aguilar.

Mon, on the other hand, is known as the James Taylor of the Philippines. He is a guitarist/composer/arranger/producer, and was the vocalist of Labuyo and the voice behind the hit song “Tuloy Pa Rin.” Jun was founder along with his brothers Alex and Nitoy of the popular rock band Abrakadabra.Jun wrote the biggest hit song of The Boyfriends, “Dahil Mahal Kita.”

The above named exponents of OPM will always be remembered for such big hits as “Awitin Mo, Isasayaw Ko,” “Rock Baby Rock,” “Swing,” “Disco Fever,” “Magnifica,” “Ipagpatawad Mo,” “Pag Tumatagal Lalong Tumitibay,” “Iniibig Kita,” “Tsismis Ka,” “Jeepney,” “Parang Ulap,” “Sumayaw, Sumunod,” “Dahil Mahal Kita,” “Bato Sa Buhangin,” “TL Ako Sa Yo,” “Ikaw Ang Superstar Ng Buhay Ko,” and many others.
