Most Controversial Documentaries

Most Controversial Documentaries
Most Controversial Documentaries. 10 Most Controversial Documentaries Of All Time.
Compiling a list of the top 10 most controversial documentaries is a difficult process. Documentaries, by their nature, are not supposed to be controversial. The filmmakers of documentaries strive for objectivity, although some current famous documentary makers do not achieve this lofty goal.

1. “America: the Story of Us” -- The History channel hoped this film would have been received better than it was. The documentary that aired as a multi-part series was criticized for its bias. Major events in American History were ignored or glossed over.
2. “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West” – This documentary was mailed out to voters in swing states in 2008. The subject matter is shocking, but it presents a view of Islamic culture seems unlikely. "Obsession’s" producers hoped that the film would cause voters to support the Republican party.

3.  “Bowling for Columbine” – Michael Moore will unfortunately dominate this list of the top ten most controversial documentaries. This documentary showed the filmmaker’s clear agenda and worst of all, it helped him make a lot of money by capitalizing on a tragedy.
4. “Fahrenheit 911" – Michael Moore scored another controversial documentary by making this film. Republican only showings did little to convince people that this film was anything other than what a prominent Swedish newspaper called it: extremely effective propaganda.
5.  “Sicko” – This is another quality film by America’s favorite Socialist filmmaker. "Sicko" was an attempt to expose the problems in America’s health care system, but it did little more than promote Obama’s health care plan.
6.  “Dude, Where’s My Country” – Yet another propaganda film disguised as a controversial documentary. The reader gets three tries to guess its maker. It cements the idea that if Mister Moore wants to help the causes he supports, he should stop making films.
7.  “The Lost Tomb of Jesus” – This controversial documentary was not sponsored or created by Michael Moore. James Cameron and Simcha Jacobovici investigate what is believed to be the tomb of Jesus Christ. The conclusions it draws are inconclusive rather than shocking as the producer claims.
8.  “The History of Sex” – The History Channel had a good reason for making this series of controversial documentaries. Because only 1% of the human population experiences no sexual attraction, sex has shaped a good portion of human history.
9.  “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” – The producers claim that it is the most controversial documentary ever made. It certainly belongs in a top ten list because it follows the situation in Venezuela closely.
10. “Sightings” – Sightings covered events of the paranormal. The producers of this controversial documentary series followed the standard formula that the government had something to hide. The show aired on the Fox Network about the same time “The X-Files” was at the height of its popularity.
