George Michael to go back on tour
George Michael has today announced that he will be heading out on the road again as he is prepares to embark on a 47 date tour across Europe.Speaking today at a press conference, which was held in the Royal Opera House, George has revealed that he will be shaking things up slightly and moving away from his normal sound by being accompanied by a symphony orchestra. “I felt it was really what I want to do as an artist,” he said. “I am really not interested or excited by repeating former successes. The idea of singing with symphony orchestras around the world was actually by something that I heard Tony Bennett had done recently.”
George announced in 2008 that he was through with touring, however it would seem that having an orchestra behind him has really appealed to the singer, “The idea of singing with this kind of backing has been attractive to me for a very long time. I feel very re-energised after some of my recent troubles and as an artist I'm not interested in repeating former successes.”
The UK leg of the tour, called Symphonica, goes on sale from May 16th and includes the following dates:
October 25 - London, Royal Albert Hall
