The Largest Structure Made of Clay
This mosque is located in the city of Djenne, Mali. 90 percent of the population of Mali are Muslims. The first mosque was built on this spot in the 13 th century, and modern, if that word is appropriate, the form it had already in 1907. Unfortunately, it can only visit the Muslims. This change was made in 1996, the year, after Vogue magazine arranged in the walls of the mosque with half-naked photo shoot models.
The entire building is built of bricks svoebraznyh - banks, made of clay, manure and straw. The consequence of this is the fragility of such an architecture. Therefore, each year after the rainy season, everyone is busy restoring the walls of the mosque.
