The ratings for the British royal wedding are still being tallied but early indications are lots of people were watching on TV and online.

Yahoo! said Friday that its live video stream of the wedding set an all time record for traffic, beating the previous record viewing for the Michael Jackson funeral by 21%.

“Overall traffic is surpassing expectations and we are breaking records in terms of traffic and video consumption,” says a Yahoo spokesperson.

Official Royal Wedding pictures are released
Clarence House today released the official Royal Wedding album that shows the beaming bride and groom in the throne room at Buckingham Palace.
Prince William and Kate posed for the stunning photographs shortly after getting married in a moving ceremony that captivated the world yesterday.
The newly-titled Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appeared to be lost in matrimonial bliss as they smiled for the traditional wedding day photo album taken by Hugo Burnand. He said the scenes clearly reveal the couple's love for each other.
No sooner had they arrived at Buckingham Palace from the service at Westminster Abbey did the rapturous family assume their positions for the pictures.
In the first photograph the couple stand arm-in-arm together against a stunning rich red velvet backdrop trimmed with gold.
The second official photograph shows William and Kate in a more informal pose. Kate's wonderful dress flows onto the floor around them as she clutches her bouquet.
In the picture, the heir to the throne wore the ceremonial uniform of the Welsh Guards but was shown in a very relaxed seated pose with his arm across the back of an ornate chair.
Sitting around the newlyweds are two pageboys and four bridesmaids. They are from clockwise from the bottom right The Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones, Miss Eliza Lopes, Miss Grace van Cutsem, Lady Louise Windsor, Master Tom Pettifer, Master William Lowther-Pinkerton.

Evolution of the Royal Wedding Dress

These Historic Gowns Weren't Just Fashion Statements
Royal Wedding Dress as Symbol
Until Friday morning, probably the biggest mystery surrounding the latest British royal wedding was who designed Kate Middleton's wedding dress.

But when the future Queen Elizabeth II (pictured) walked down the aisle in London's Westminster Abbey in 1947, her wedding dress was more than a fashion statement: It represented the hopes of a nation, according to royal wedding gown curator Joanna Marschner.

With food and clothing still being rationed in postwar Britain, royal dressmaker Norman Hartnell sought to convey a message of national renewal, instead of focusing on opulent materials. He did this in part by embroidering the gown with garlands of spring flowers.

"It is a dress with a message for that particular moment in time," said Marschner, of Historic Royal Palaces, an independent charity that acts as caretaker for five British royal buildings.

"I think you can say that about all the royal wedding dresses—they have become amazing documents that can say a lot about the year when they were worn."

Prince William and Kate delay foreign honeymoon as Prince William returns to work next week after bank holiday break in Britain.
Prince William and his new wife Kate Middleton have decided not to depart for their honeymoon immediately and have instead opted to spend the weekend in the UK, St James's Palace announced today.

It had been thought that the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would take two weeks off for the traditional post royal wedding break.

But it appears they want some private time in familiar surroundings after one of the most important days in their life saw their marriage celebrated by the nation and beyond.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been named husband and wife by the Archbishop of Canterbury at Westminster Abbey.

Here are the top 20 moments from the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on Friday. See our live blog for continued coverage.

• Clarence House announced Prince William and his bride would leave Westminster Abbey in the same open topped horse-drawn carriage used by the Prince and Princess of Wales on their wedding day in 1981 – meaning that come rain or shine, crowds would be able to clearly see the married couple.

• The Queen gave the Royal couple the titles of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, also naming her grandson Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus, titles his bride would also inherit after the ceremony.

• As crowds gathered in Westminster, the crew of the International Space Station broadcast pre-recorded greetings to the Royal couple, from hundreds of miles above the surface of the Earth

* Prince William takes the title Duke of Cambridge and Kate becomes Duchess

After a kiss that thrilled the nation, Prince William drove full throttle into the nation's affections as he took his new wife on an unexpected drive to Clarence House.
They left their Buckingham Palace reception in Prince Charles's open-top Aston Martin with 'Just wed' on the number plate.
It was the fitting climax to what had already been a remarkable day - and it was the common touch his mother Diana would have been proud of.
As the crowds roared, the couple emerged in the 38-year-old classic car with a yellow RAF rescue helicopter flying overhead.
The vehicle had been given to Charles as a gift when he turned 21. The couple drove round the front of the Palace before returning to the private reception.
They emerged from the Palace two hours after stepping out on the balcony and marked their marriage with their first public kiss.
But the first public embrace of William and his bride Catherine was so fleeting that you would have missed it if you had blinked.

White House releases long form Obama birth certificate
Responding to critics' relentless claims, President Barack Obama on Wednesday produced a detailed Hawaii birth certificate in an extraordinary attempt to bury the issue of where he was born and confirm his legitimacy to hold office. He declared, "We do not have time for this kind of silliness."

By going on national TV from the White House, Obama portrayed himself as a voice of reason amid a loud, lingering debate on his birth status. Though his personal attention to the issue elevated it as never before, Obama said to Republican detractors and the media, it is time to move on to bigger issues.

Citing huge budget decisions in Washington, Obama said, "I am confident that the American people and America's political leaders can come together in a bipartisan way and solve these problems. We always have. But we're not going to be able to do it if we are distracted."

Obama spoke shortly after the White House released a copy of the long form of his birth certificate, which contains more extensive data than a version released earlier.

Michael Vick, Humane Society team up to pan "Dog Wars" app
Professional football player Michael Vick has joined with the Humane Society to condemn a new cell phone application featuring fighting dogs.

The "Dog Wars" app, designed to run on Google's Inc.'s Android software, allows players to condition, train and fight virtual dogs.

Vick, a Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, was given an 18-month sentence in 2007 for involvement in a dog-fighting ring. Since his release, Vick has helped an anti-dogfighting campaign run by The Humane Society of the United States.

"I've come to learn the hard way that dog fighting is a dead-end street," Vick said in a joint statement with the Humane Society issued on Monday.

"Now I am on the right side of the issue, and I think it's important to send the smart message to kids, and not glorify this form of animal cruelty, even in an Android app," he said.

Beyonce sued for $100M by video game developer
Beyonce Knowles is being sued for $100 million, accused of being a "diva grinch".

The 'Girls (Who Rule The World)' singer is said to have ruined Christmas 2010 for employees of video game company Gate Five, after she demanded more money to appear in dance game Starpower: Beyonce.

Her alleged decision also caused the project's main financier to back out and was, according to the lawsuit, "a bad faith breach of contract so callous that, on what appeared to be a whim, she destroyed Gate Five's business, and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas".

The game was in development for release for Christmas 2011, but the project had to be scrapped after an "extortionate demand for entirely new compensation" came from Beyonce's team at a "crucial moment in the project's development".

Gate Five CEO Dareh Gregorian added to the New York Post newspaper: "It was a very shocking and disappointing turn of events that no one saw coming, and now we're all trying to pick up the pieces."

Representatives for Beyonce have yet to comment on the case.

The next day, every front page was devoted not to the Prince of Wales's televised confession, but to images of the glowing, confident 32-year-old Diana. The royal wedding will cost WHAT?

The royal wedding will cost WHAT?
Your wedding vs. the royal wedding
The gala event for Prince William and Kate Middleton demands perfection -- and that costs big bucks (or, as the British would say, a lot of pounds).
What's the difference between this week's wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and everyone else's? Logistics and money.

The affair -- no, make that spectacle -- is rumored to cost as much as 80 million pounds, according to reports in the U.K. press which couldn't be verified. Security alone it is slated at 20 million pounds.

No matter how you measure it, the total costs are likely to dwarf the 4 million to 30 million pounds it reportedly cost to throw the 1981 wedding of William's parents, Prince Charles and Diana Spencer.
American weddings typically cost about $27,000, according to the latest survey from TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com. That includes flowers, photography, music and party favors, and on these particular details there is little information available about the royal wedding. In all likelihood, the royal family will spend at least 10 times what the average American pays for such items (see chart below).

A split from the norm: Sony unveils its twin-screen tablet that opens like a book - but will it take a bite out of Apple?
* Sony will also produce a conventional tablet as it aims to break the market

* Tablets will both be wi-fi and 3G/4G compatible
* Prices and release dates not revealed

Being able to carry your entire book collection has become a feature of tablet computers. But Sony has gone one further by making a device that folds open like one too.

Sony announced it is entering the tablet market dominated by Apple's iPad with not one, but two devices.

The tablets - called S1 and S2 - will use an operating system based on Google's Android 3.0.

And in what Sony hopes will provide a key selling point, the latter has two 5.5-inch displays that can be folded like a book. The S1 has a 9.4inch display.

Phones that run Google’s Android software also store users’ location data. And not only is the data stored — allowing anyone who can get their hands on the device to piece together a chillingly accurate profile of where you’ve been — but it’s also transmitted back to the companies to use for their own research.

The royal wedding has suffered its first major controversy after it was confirmed that neither Tony Blair nor Gordon Brown had been invited to Friday’s ceremony.

The former Labour prime ministers will not join the 1,900-strong royal wedding congregation at Westminster Abbey despite it being a “semi-state” occasion that they had been widely expected to attend.
By contrast, both their Conservative predecessors, Sir John Major and Baroness Thatcher, received invitations. Lady Thatcher declined on health grounds although Sir John will be present when Prince William marries Kate Middleton.

Coloring Easter eggs

Coloring Easter eggs naturally
As a kid, Easter meant dyed eggs and candy way before it meant anything religious, and with a new niece around, I've decided to revive the old tradition that my sister and I had of coloring eggs for Easter.

But with concerns about food coloring potentially causing hyperactivity in kids, even though the Food and Drug Administration considers it unlikely, I've browsed stores looking for natural egg dyeing kits to no avail.

My fascination with delicious but hand-staining beets, which are actually used as coloring in juices for instance, and my tendency to spill coffee every time I'm wearing white, reminded me that there are plenty of colorful, naturally-occurring substances that can dye an egg.
