Kim K. Replaced In Super Bowl Ad
Kim K. Replaced by Bulldog in Superbowl Ad
This is the best news ever! Kim Kardashian has been replaced … by a bulldog! In their new Super Bowl ad, Skechers has decided to replace the infamous reality star and marital loser with a French bulldog. Clearly, the company finally recognized true talent."Kim got us more attention than we ever dreamed," says Leonard Armato, president of Skechers Fitness, who stated that Skechers is launching a high-tech running shoe business. "We have to establish Skechers as more than a lifestyle company."According to USA Today, the spot features a French bulldog bedecked in Skechers new GOrun shoes — racing a pack of greyhounds. However, the commercial has come under fire from animal rights group Grey2K USA, which is petitioning to ax the ad. It claims that the greyhounds were mistreated and kept in tiny cages at Tucson Greyhound Park.
While Skechers' contract with Kardashian expired at the end of 2011, her effect on the brand has been huge, Armato says. Two months before the 2011 Super Bowl, Skechers' Facebook page had 100,000 fans, but it now has 400,000 -- a great deal of of which he attributes to the reality star.
Mark Cuban, who appears briefly in the ad, knows that following the reality star will be tough. "I'm not Kim Kardashian," he says. "But one of the things I do know is high technology and how to use it."
Now if only that bulldog had some four-legged friends to replace Kourtney and Khloe – I might actually watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians sometime.
