Children left + Michael S. Kaufman + Kelsey Grobmeier, Authorities say a couple shoplifted a cellphone and makeup from a Walmart, but forgot two children as they fled the store.
Police in Louisville, Kentucky, say 20-year-old Michael S. Kaufman took a cellphone and tried to take a tablet computer, destroying the attached display in the process. Police say 19-year-old Kelsey Grobmeier hid makeup under a baby car seat.
When confronted, the couple fled, leaving a 3-year-old and 18-month-old behind in the store around 7 p.m. EDT Wednesday.
Police say Grobmeier returned to the store about an hour later to retrieve the children.
According to Grobmeier's Facebook profile, the pair are engaged and the parents of daughter Kylie, 3, and son Jaden.
Just last week she posted on her wall 'does anyone know anywhere hiring if so please let me know i need a job asap.'
She lists her job as waitress.
Meanwhile Kaufman has been selling things off on his Facebook page, offering a computer for $250.
He lists his sole interest as 'making money.'
Kaufman and Grobmeier are each charged with theft, criminal trespassing, endangering the welfare of a minor and tampering with physical evidence.
Court records do not indicate if they have attorneys. WLKY-TV in Louisville first reported the arrests.
